The "Lifestyle Renter" and the New Starter Home
The Trend: "Starter homes" in 2026 are no longer just small, outdated houses; they are defined by flexible layouts, smart storage, and emotional connection rather than just low price. Simultaneously, a new class of "lifestyle renters" is emerging—people who could afford to buy but choose to lease for flexibility and lower maintenance.

🗞️ Opinion: Lincoln Parish Deserves Bold Economic Leadership—Not Business as Usual
Lincoln Parish, nestled in the heart of north-central Louisiana, is a community rich in culture, talent, and potential. Yet despite its assets—from Grambling State University to a growing entrepreneurial spirit—economic leadership remains fragmented, reactive, and often invisible.
🚧 The Problem: Leadership by Default, Not Design
Too often, economic development here feels like a side hustle for those in power. The parish lacks a unified vision, a clear set of priorities, and the kind of catalytic leadership that turns ideas into infrastructure. While the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce hosts events and speaker series, these efforts—though valuable—do not substitute for a strategic roadmap. The parish’s own Economic Development & Planning Board meets sporadically, with little public engagement or measurable outcomes.
📉 Consequences of Inaction
Brain Drain: Young talent leaves for cities with clearer career pathways and innovation ecosystems.
Underutilized Institutions: Grambling State and Louisiana Tech could be economic engines—but lack coordinated investment strategies.
Missed Funding: Federal and state grants often bypass Lincoln Parish due to weak proposals or lack of shovel-ready projects.
🔁 What Leadership Should Look Like
Lincoln Parish needs a coalition—not just committees. A public-private task force should be formed to:

An intelligent man drifted with confusion not knowing which way the sea would toss him. At the point of floating he finally ask God why are you taking me through these troubled waters? After several more days at sea The Man said again Lord why am I in these troubled waters? The Lord replied to his humble servant. My Son your enemies cannot swim💕

This is truly devastating. The attack near the Capital Jewish Museum claimed the lives of two Israeli Embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, who were attending a diplomatic event. Authorities are investigating the suspect, Elias Rodriguez, who reportedly shouted "Free, free Palestine" while in custody. Officials are treating this as a hate crime, and leaders across the U.S. and Israel have condemned the violence.
